About Wangfujing Street

Wangfujing Street is one of the most famous shopping streets in Beijing, located in Dongcheng District. It is a pedestrianized street that runs from East Chang'an Avenue in the south to Dengshikou Street in the north, with a total length of about 1.5 kilometers.

The street has a history of over 700 years, dating back to the Ming dynasty when it was known for its wells and aristocratic residences. Today, Wangfujing is a modern shopping district featuring large department stores, international brand boutiques, and shopping malls, while still retaining some traditional elements.

The Wangfujing Snack Street, located in a side alley, is famous for its wide variety of Chinese street food, from traditional Beijing snacks like jianbing and zhajiangmian to more exotic offerings like fried scorpions and seahorses. The street also features the historic St. Joseph's Church (Dongtang), a beautiful Gothic-style Catholic church built in 1655, which stands in contrast to the modern shopping surroundings.
